1) We were watching the film and it was so well made that it made it go back in time. During class discussions, we talked about how the film was so popular and how it became one of the greatest films ever made and how it is always towards the top on multiple lists of the best films ever made. We also talked about how the film was made as far as casting, story, and the film's awards and success. The film went on to win multiple academy awards and it was one of the best films in 1939. Of the multiple awards that the film accumulated, history was made when Hattie McDaniel, the actress who played the character Mammy, became the first African American actor/actress to ever win an Academy Award in 1939. She won this award for best supporting actress. Since then, many more African American actors and actresses have gone on to play great roles and to win Academy Awards.

Although this subject has already been covered in class, I thought that it was very important that I take another look at the Motion Picture Production Code of Conduct. I chose this article because of the fact that there were a few things in the film that might have been suggestive. For example, Clark Gable says the word "damn" at the end of the film. One of the main rules of the code was that a person could not swear in film. Even though there are more severe words used today, back then it was a huge issue. From the code and the film history, the studios had to work hard to let the word "damn" still be in the movie. Some of the other things in the article included the other rules of the code, as well as the development and history of the code. I thought that this article was fascinating to look at because if you look at today's films, in comparison to the 1930s, all of those rules can be broken in one film alone. That's why I think that it is so interesting because of how films are different today than in recent decades.
3) The article is very good because it helps to describe the historical context of the film and how significant it was to film history. It had so much significance because it went on to become one of the greatest films of all time. The article was also very important because it helped with the censorship code and how it helped to shape the films to the point that made them unforgettable and to also helped to these films the greatest films of that era. Now over the years the production code has changed, but the fundamentals have always been there and today's films have that original production code to thank for those fundamentals.
4) In my opinion, the film was much better than some of the other films that we have seen in the class. I personally thought that the film was absolutely brilliant from the casting to the costuming to the storyline. The film itself was such an important part of film history because of its success and how it captivated audiences and continues to captivate audiences even to this day. As a result among romantic couples, Scarlett and Rhett have also become one of the most beloved film couples of all time. Also what really made the film amazing was the fact that it was shot in color because at the time, not many films were shot in color. So that in itself made the film that more important in American Film History.
